Honorable mentions:
| ||
10. | Snake Eyes (1998) One of many cases where the movie failed to live up to its trailer. These clips of a De Palma, Rashomon-like movie sure raised my expectations.
9. | The House of the Dead (2003) This trailer convinced me to see one of the worst movies ever made, so the editors who spliced it definitely earned their paychecks.
8. | Death Sentence (2007) Goes to show how John Murphy's "In a Heartbeat" can really intensify an action montage. Disappointing movie, BTW.
7. | Independence Day (1996) The trailers for this movie blew me away. Nowadays the scenes pale in comparison to the 9/11 images, but at the time I couldn't wait to see this blockbuster.
6. | Sunshine (2007) I felt that the trailer actually captured the spirit of this movie pretty well. Compelled me to drive all the way to San Francisco to catch a limited release. You might recognize the music in this trailer as "Lux Aeterna" by Clint Mansell.
5. | Run Lola Run (1998) I remember seeing this trailer right before "The Blair Witch Project". Had no clue what the clips meant, but they certainly intrigued me and my brother.
4. | Ju-On: The Grudge (2003) Even the trailer to this movie scared me. The red MPAA screen also stood out--almost as if the curse had bloodied the normal green MPAA screen.
3. | Memento (2001) Didn't see this trailer until I bought the "Memento" DVD. I felt that it represented the theme of the movie perfectly without giving anything away.
2. | Inception (2010) Aside from that misdefinition of what "Inception" is, I loved the voiceovers and music in this trailer and couldn't wait to see the film.
1. | The Tree of Life (2011) EPIC. |
