Synopsis: Painter Lionel Dobie is less concerned about his one-man show than he is by the fact that Paulette, his assistant and girlfriend, is leaving him. Frustrated by her lack of success as a painter, and smarting from an unsuccessful fling with a self-obsessed performance artist, Paulette has decided to move back home. Lionel is desperate to hold on to her and begs her to stay, promising that she can live her own life. At a party, Lionel is jealous of the attention another artist shows Paulette and she realizes he can't be taken at his word. The inevitable break comes after Lionel picks a fight with the performance artist. At the party celebrating the opening of Lionel's show, the painter meets a young woman who may come to take Paulette's place.
