Synopsis: Paul Hackett, a lonely computer programmer, meets Marcy, a mysterious, attractive blonde, in a coffee shop and makes a date to meet her that evening at a loft in New York's SoHo area. Discovering she is emotionally unstable, he leaves. But having lost his money on the way downtown, he has no way to return home. A series of increasingly frustrating encounters occurs as he asks for help from a bartender, a waitress, and a number of passersby. Some try to help, but most either ignore or make light of his situation. He is chased by a mob who are convinced he is the burglar who has been preying on the neighborhood. Taking refuge in a nightclub, he meets a woman sculptor who hides him inside a plaster sculpture. The real burglars steal the sculpture, but it falls out of the truck in front of Paul's office. Still flecked with plaster, Paul enters and goes to his desk where his computer screen greets him with the words "Good morning, Paul."
